Vintage sizes can be very different to modern day sizes so rule number one is ignore the label! Here at My Vintage we take great care to measure garments for you and then convert these measurements into approximate modern sizes so shopping with us is nice and easy.
PLEASE NOTE - the sizes you see displayed are the ACTUAL GARMENT sizes and not the size of body they will fit. You can use your body measurements but please allow 2-3” for fitting. E.g. if your waist measures 28” you would need a 30” waist garment.
We are all different shapes and sizes so to be sure of the perfect fit you should check the measurements properly and use this sizing guide...
We lay the garment flat and measure the key areas (I.e bust, waist, hips and length) this measurement is taken in inches. If the garment is stretchy and/or meant to hang loose, we make allowances for this.
This is the approximate conversion from garment measurement to dress size...
| bust (ins) | 32 | 34 | 36 | 38 | 40 | 42 | 44 | 46 |
| waist (ins) | 28 | 30 | 32 | 34 | 36 | 38 | 40 | 42 |
| UK size | 8 | 10 | 12 | 14 | 16 | 18 | 20 | 22 |
There are two ways you can check measurements before you buy. The best way is to find an item similar to the one you are hoping to purchase and take the measurements to compare. Remember to make allowances for the way the garment is meant to fit.
